About Guided Kitchen
What is Guided Kitchen?
A calm home for the recipes you cook. Save a recipe from a website, YouTube, Instagram or TikTok and Guided Kitchen keeps just the ingredients and method, with a link back to the cook who wrote it. Then organise them into collections, make your own version, and cook from a clean, distraction-free screen.
Who is it for?
Home cooks with a messy, much-loved recipe collection: bookmarks, screenshots, saved reels and a drawer of cards. It isn't a social network, and it won't invent recipes for you.
Will there be a mobile app or browser extension?
The web app already works well on a phone. A Chrome extension for one-click saving is being built, and saving from your phone's share menu is on the feature board. Beta users get to vote on what comes first.
Launch & pricing
When does it launch?
The private beta is running now. I'm inviting small batches every week or two so I can talk to everyone who joins. A wider launch is planned for later in 2026, though I'd rather it be right than on time.
Is it free?
It's free for everyone during the beta. At launch there will be a paid plan to keep the lights on. Early users get a substantial discount, and the recipes you've saved stay yours to view even if you never pay.
How do invites work?
Join the waitlist with your email. When it's your turn you'll get one email with a link to create your account. That's the only email you'll get from the waitlist.
Importing recipes
Which sites and platforms can I import from?
Almost any recipe website or food blog, plus YouTube videos, Instagram posts and reels, and TikTok, including videos where the cook never wrote the recipe down. Importing from a photo of a cookbook page or from pasted text is being built.
What happens if a site isn't supported?
You'll be told straight away. Facebook, Pinterest, X, Threads and Snapchat can't be read, so the import button explains that before anything is sent; the fix is usually to paste the original recipe site's link instead. Recipes behind a login or a paywall usually can't be read either.
What about recipe authors' copyright?
Guided Kitchen is a personal library, not a publisher. Every imported recipe keeps a clear link back to the original cook and source, and nothing you save is published anywhere public.
Your data & privacy
What do you do with my email?
It goes on the waitlist so we can send your invite, and that's it. We don't sell it, share it or add you to a newsletter. Ask and we'll delete it.
Do I own my recipes? Can I export them?
Yes. Your library is yours, and you'll be able to export everything in a standard format. No lock-in.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, at any time. Deleting your account removes your library, notes and collections.
The free tools
Are the kitchen tools free?
Yes. The salt converter, ingredient converter and kitchen timer are free and need no account. In Guided Kitchen the same conversions and timers work inside every recipe.
How accurate are the conversions?
Weight-to-weight and volume-to-volume conversions are exact. Cups to grams depends on the ingredient and how it's packed, so we use published densities for each ingredient. For baking, weighing is always more reliable than measuring by volume.
AI
Is this AI-generated slop?
No. AI does the dull part: pulling the ingredients and steps out of a cluttered page or a video. It never invents recipes and never rewrites the cook's method. What you save is the real recipe, tidied up.
Where exactly is AI used?
Only when importing: reading a page or video and finding the recipe in it, and splitting amounts from ingredient names so they can be scaled and converted. Your notes, your edits and the tools don't use AI.
