Import a recipe from a website

Save a recipe from almost any recipe site or food blog into Guided Kitchen, without the ads, pop-ups or life story.

What you'll need

  • A Guided Kitchen account (join the waitlist for an invite)
  • The link to a recipe page

Most recipe sites and food blogs work, from the big publishers to a small blog on WordPress. You paste the link, and Guided Kitchen keeps the ingredients and method, with a link back to the cook who wrote it.

Open the recipe in your browser and copy the address from the address bar. On a phone, tap Share, then Copy link.

Use the link to the recipe page itself, not the site's home page or a search results page.

2. Paste it into Import a recipe

In Guided Kitchen, open Import a recipe and paste the link into the Recipe URL box. A small label shows what kind of link it is, then tap Import Recipe.

3. Wait a few seconds

Guided Kitchen reads the page and finds the recipe in it. Pages with recipe details built in are usually done in seconds; others take a little longer. You don't have to wait on the page: the recipe lands in your Library when it's ready.

4. Cook from it, or make it yours

The recipe opens with its ingredients and method, and a link back to the original. From here you can add it to a collection, write a note, scale it, or make your own version. The original always stays as the cook wrote it.

If it doesn't work

"We can't read Facebook links yet." Facebook, Pinterest, X, Threads and Snapchat links can't be read, and the import page tells you before anything is sent. If the post links to the original recipe, open that and paste the recipe site's link instead.

"No recipe at that link." The page didn't have a recipe on it that we could find. Check that you copied the recipe page and not a category or home page.

"That site doesn't allow us to read its pages." A few sites block anything that isn't a person in a browser. For now, those can't be imported. Recipes behind a login or paywall usually can't be read either.
